The Sandbox
SCORE: 70
The
Sandbox reminds me of Minecraft in some ways. The graphics are very
retro, blocky and pixelated. At times I could not tell what certain
objects are. Other times the objects are very clear. Like the old man
curled up in a ball, and not wearing any clothing.
The Sandbox is a Personal Computer video game with tons of levels. These
levels unlock content that can be used in the sandbox mode. Which is
pretty funny because the name of this Steam game is The Sandbox. Points
are earned for beating levels, which can be used to purchase content to
be used in the sandbox mode as well.
The Sandbox contains references to Genesis, and God. Which is fantastic
to see. In many ways we are actually the creator in The Sandbox. Another
way of looking at it, is we are God in The Sandbox. I love being able to
create things in games like The Sandbox.
There are things like lasers, and dinosaurs in The Sandbox. I like being
able to change the temperature and create things like snow. Bringing in
lava to create glass (on sand) was a nice concept. The Sandbox has a
physics feel to it helping it stand apart from games like Minecraft.
The Sandbox is a download only video game on the Personal Computer. No
going into a retail store and purchasing a physical copy. Which excludes
a large population of consumers. Family Friendly Gaming has no control
over this issue.
