Wooden Sen’SeY
SCORE: 65
Wooden Sen’SeY on the Wii U bows in respect to Japanese games from
the past. Which means American gamers may get it, and they may not. I
did not get it, most of the time I played Wooden Sen’SeY on the Wii U.
That's okay because I am not the target audience of this downloadable
only video game.
If you are a hardcore gamer you will be in heaven playing Wooden
Sen’SeY. Worldly gamers will also appreciate Wooden Sen’SeY. This game
is hard, and has a few fascinating quirks. Like you can jump on the
heads of the enemies. As long as they are not wearing hats with spikes
on them. Pro tip: knock off the hat first to be able to hurt them.
Levels in Wooden Sen’SeY are long. Which will make you feel good since
this game costs $9.99 on the Wii U. Unless of course you rage quit a
level due to difficulty. Then you probably won't feel so good about your
purchase. Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code for this
Wii U game.
The controls in Wooden Sen’SeY do their best to incorporate the Wii U
Gamepad. Like swinging from the grappling hook. Wooden Sen’SeY requires
the player to rock the Wii U Gamepad like a baby to swing. Call me old
fashioned, but I prefer to swing using the joystick. Plus since the
charge on the Wii U Gamepad is so long, I wound up connected to a power
outlet most of the time. That made swinging a real pain in the neck.
Butt stomping in Wooden Sen’SeY is done by thrusting the Wii U Gamepad
down. Thankfully you can also press down on the joystick to do it
instead. I am so thankful that was left in. Because thrusting my Wii U
Gamepad down every time I wanted to come crashing down would have made
playing this game unbearable.
The music in Wooden Sen’SeY has an Eastern flare to it. When enemies die
words in a language other than English comes up. Is it profanity? Is it
religious? Is it positive, and uplifting? I have no answer to those
questions. We are left to our own interpretations.
Wooden Sen’SeY shows some really cool polish and shine. It is obvious a
lot of time and effort went into making this home console Wii U
downloadable only video game. With all of the fighting, violence, and
alcohol related content I am surprised it got an 'E' for Everyone rating
by the ESRB.
