Cube Life Island Survival is the most complete Minecraft clone on the Wii U. There is a survival mode, and a creative mode. I am bummed that there are no animals in the creative mode. It makes crafting certain things a bit more difficult. Flying around and building stuff in creative mode is really cool. That is not where most of the hardcore Minecraft gamers are going to go though.

Survival mode is where most gamers will spend their time with Cube Life Island Survival. The day and night cycles separate when it is safe to be outside and when it is not safe. Hint - find shelter at night. I dug my way into the side of a hill and placed blocks to block the way in. I found it was really easy to die early on in Cube Life Island Survival. Running out of health or water are quick ways to die. Then I could no longer enjoy the nice looking graphics in this downloadable only video game.

I enjoyed finding secret hidden treasure chests in Cube Life Island Survival. I also got into the crafting. I had trouble with the crafting at first. I did not understand that the items had to be in the exact right spots on the three by three grid. I also kept trying to grab just one of an item and not the entire stack. Note if you have four of one item, and six of another item, Cube Life Island Survival will craft four of the new item, and you will have one base ingredient gone, and the other one will have two left over. This was not handy when I needed two of that exhausted base ingredient for something else.

Cube Life Island Survival is very nice to players in terms of what the recipes are for crafting. There is an easy to find menu option that shows what each of the recipes are. It can take a minute or two to scroll through all of the screens though. I did not find an index that made traversing the recipe screens easy. That would be a very handy upgrade in my personal opinion.

The cartoon violence in Cube Life Island Survival is attacking animals. Why do you attack animals in Cube Life Island Survival? For food. Essential survival 101. Animals can also leave other items that are useful in crafting. Nasty creatures like cannibals will appear at night. Do not mess around with them. They will kill you with a quickness in Cube Life Island Survival. Even when you want to just give them some food. Turning the other cheek in Cube Life Island Survival will get you a screen telling you that you died.

I like how Cube Life Island Survival reminds me to save. The day and night cycles are really neat. Although it took forever to wait through the night in my shelters. I did not find a way to speed that up. The world size in Cube Life Island Survival is large, and the storyline has a shipwrecked on an island feel to it - literally. But you can make your own boat as long as you acquire the right materials. I really got into the music in Cube Life Island Survival too.
