Days of Wonder - Splendor

Days of Wonder - Splendor is a recent port to the Steam platform on the Personal Computer from the card game. I like card games. I like board games. I really like it when card games and/or board games are released on systems like the PC. Days of Wonder - Splendor is a downloadable only video game. A physical copy of Days of Wonder - Splendor on the PC would have been neat to see.

I went to the learn how to play Days of Wonder - Splendor since plenty of card games can house confusing structures. Why can't card games be simple anymore? What is with all these phases. I went through the educational process to learn how to play Days of Wonder - Splendor. After I finished the game crashed. I thought to myself: "that is a really bad sign." Add into the fact that the directions were as clear as mud to me.

I hoped I could start playing Days of Wonder - Splendor and figure it out. Boy was I wrong. I felt like I was sailing in a hurricane with no rudder. I didn't comprehend enough to plan a good strategy. Maybe it was because I picked balanced as my game play style. I must have looked pretty erratic collecting all those cards that did not help me get a higher score. So I went back to the instructions.

Again Days of Wonder - Splendor made little to no sense to me. I tried another game. And another one, and another one. Guess what Days of Wonder - Splendor has taught me? I am really good at losing to the computer. My frustration rose, and my entertainment hit rock bottom. Days of Wonder - Splendor is supposed to have a local multiplayer mode but I could not find it. So I could not even compete against another human.

Days of Wonder - Splendor looks okay. The cards, and gems are nice to look at. The cards do get repetitive. The music in Days of Wonder - Splendor is very pleasant. I enjoyed listening to it while losing over and over again. I even had some others try to comprehend how to play Days of Wonder - Splendor, they got headaches half way through the instructions.

If you know how to play Days of Wonder - Splendor then you will get into this game. If you feel like hours of trial and error, tutorial crashing, and frustration trying to learn how to play Days of Wonder - Splendor, then you will also get into this PC game. If anyone mentions this game to me again I will scream and run away. Days of Wonder - Splendor has traumatized me.
