Dragonball Xenoverse
SCORE: 63
I will be the first to admit that if there is a bandwagon to get on
about DBZ fighting games being boring I would be one of the first people
getting on. The video game industry has seen so many DBZ fighting games
reliving the sagas that another one could put the most ardent DBZ fanboy
to sleep. We can only fight Great Apes, and go to Namek so often. You
know what I mean?
Dimps must realize this because they made some really cool changes in
Dragonball Xenoverse. The DBZ timeline is being monkeyed with. You pick
your race, and create your character to help Trunks clean it up. Later
you find out that both of ya'll are working for the Supreme Kai of Time.
In typical DBZ fashion you will wonder how she got that position since
she seems so much weaker than any Saiyan.
There are main storyline quests and optional quests in Dragonball
Xenoverse. Who are we kidding those optional quests are not really
optional. You will need them to grind your character to be strong enough
to handle the main story quests. Dragonball Xenoverse is nice to player
when the fail. You will still gain experience and money. Leveling up
allows you to customize the stats of your character in important ways.
Items, and armors are also important in Dragonball Xenoverse. They can
also improve stats, or do things like bring your health back after being
knocked out. Only that one time in any level though. Family Friendly
Gaming was provided the Day One edition of Dragonball Xenoverse on the
PS4. This included some cool DLC armor. Although the gold armor looks
like my character is not wearing any pants on the back side and he is a
bit too cheeky.
Players start in a cool town hub that lets you play online if you have
enough bandwidth, and a large enough Internet plan. There is also
offline/local play in Dragonball Xenoverse. The town hub is where you
find characters, masters to train you, item shops, world tournament, and
more. The town is really neat. I just wish I could fly around in it. It
is so slow running around. The Stargate doors are cool.
The storlyine in Dragonball Xenoverse made me feel like a time lord. The
battling areas increased my aggression and irritation levels. I also
noticed my patience dwindled quickly while playing Dragonball Xenoverse.
This home console video game requires players be aggressive and smart.
There are plenty of different moves and button combinations to learn in
Dragonball Xenoverse. Thankfully they are not that difficult.
I did run into some issues while playing Dragonball Xenoverse. The
camera can get in your way, or be a real pain. Getting close to some
enemies can be difficult at times. Which can make Dragonball Xenoverse
even tougher if you are an up close and personal kind of fighting style.
The intelligence of the computer controlled characters on your side can
be lacking at times. Especially when you need to keep someone alive and
they go right into harms way.
There is plenty of violence in Dragonball Xenoverse. There is also some
blood, mainly in the cut scenes. There is bad language in Dragonball
Xenoverse. I was shocked to hear certain profanities used in this game.
There are also suggestive themes in some of the characters. Not every
character stays fully clothed in Dragonball Xenoverse. This game is
definitely for the older members of the family only.
