Family Tennis SP

Family Tennis has finally made it to the Wii U in the Americas in the form of Family Tennis SP. How many members of Family Friendly Gaming Nation remember Family Tennis 3D? Family Tennis SP is generally the same game. It looks better on the bigger television screen.

The Family series from Arc System Works continues to be fantastic. Various family members are included in Family Tennis SP. We have mom, dad, son, daughter, aunt, uncle, cousin, grandma, and grandpa. They have different names but you get the general picture.

Family Tennis SP is a fun tennis game with a nice learning curve. I enjoyed how fatigue could impact the game play of the various characters. Families can enjoy a couple of different modes in Family Tennis SP. The mini games in Family Tennis SP are a bit harder than the tournaments. They do add some diversity to this game.

Family Tennis SP is a downloadable only title selling for $4.99. At least that is the price for this Wii U home console video game at the time this review was written. I can not speak to what kinds of sales and price drops that may occur in the future.

I like the bright and colorful graphics in Family Tennis SP. The different courts are cool to see as well. With all of that stated, I honestly expected better details in Family Tennis SP. The lack of US voice actors in the US sticks out like a sore thumb. I also wish I could turn off the replays because they get annoying after a few games.

At the end of the day Family Tennis SP is a fun tennis game that is mainly for casual gamers. I noticed that on a 40-40 tie aka deuce, only one point was needed by either player to win. Instead of the standard two points to win to break the die. Meaning advantage server, and then if the server scores again they win the game.
