Golden Shoes

Family Friendly Gaming was provided a copy of Golden Shoes on DVD for this review. One of the best lines in this eighty-nine minute feel good movie is: "success is the best revenge." Meaning doing well, and proving people wrong is better than getting back at them. I know some people will react negatively to that phrase. It resonated with me. Revenge can be an endless cycle when people keep going after one another.

Family Friendly Gaming has had its nay sayers, haters, and death threats over the years. We do not let their evil hearts control us. Their hatred does not dictate what we say and what we do. Instead we keep on with the good fight. It is great to see a movie relay that same message. We have faced corrupt corporations, and discrimination because we refuse to worship at the idolatry of political correctness. One of the things we do at Family Friendly Gaming is shame those people and corps by treating them better than they treat us.

The core of Golden Shoes is soccer. Golden Shoes also has a Cinderella feel to it. Christian Larou is an eight year old boy who loves soccer. His father is off fighting for freedom in Afghanistan, and his mother gets in a serious car accident. She is hospitalized and he has to stay with a neighbor. This neighbor is a man who lost his wife and is filled with anger. He has two sons that he treats way better than Christian.

The neighbor has to take Christian to get soccer shoes, and tries to get the cheapest pair he can find. The salesman gives Christian these dirty old golden shoes. All of sudden Christian can hit amazing shots. He is freed to become a super star in soccer. Ultimately his success brings his parents home, and re-unites their family. Christian also learns later on in the movie that it is not the shoes.

A small part of Golden Shoes takes us to a war zone with explosions, shooting, and a little blood. The mother also looks really messed up after the accident. I am perplexed as to why she was kept in the hospital so long. I know it was a major plot point in Golden Shoes, I just did not find it realistic. Golden Shoes is sort of a male version of Cinderella. Even with being locked in the room.

The kids do a good job with the soccer in Golden Shoes. At times the lines seemed forced. Golden Shoes is an interesting movie because it mixes some well known actors and actresses with some new faces. Hopefully the newer actors/actresses learned from their elders by working on Golden Shoes. It was also neat to see Montel Williams in Golden Shoes. There are no bonus features on the disc Family Friendly Gaming was provided.
