I am Bread
SCORE: 44
When I first heard of I am Bread, I instantly thought of: "I am
Groot!" I am Bread has nothing to do with the Guardians of the Galaxy,
or the previously mentioned walking tree character. Instead we play a
variety of different bread in this downloadable only video game that
came close to two gigs in size thanks to an update file that came along
with the download code Family Friendly Gaming was provided.
I am Bread contains a Story Mode, Bagel Race, Rampage, Cheese Hunt, Zero
G, and Free Roam. The Story Mode is where we play a slice of bread. We
play a bagel in Bagel Race. We play a skinny French Bread in Rampage. We
play a cracker in Cheese Hunt. We play a slice of bread with rockets in
Zero G. Free Roam is the mode players can try and get used to the
controls in I am Bread by playing any of the bread.
The controls in I am Bread drove me insane. They are beyond difficult. I
am Bread has floppy physics like say Goat Simulator. For a slice of
bread players use a different trigger button to control each corner of
the bread. Upper right might be R1, and upper left is L1 for example.
Using the left joystick on the Playstation 4 controller I could also
scooch the bread a little bit on flat surfaces.
The story mode in I am Bread contains some really demented stuff as we
read the notes from a psychiatrist treating a mentally unstable person.
In Rampage we must destroy as much of the environment as quickly as
possible. Things like glasses, plates, bottles and more. The bread in I
am Bread naturally attracts all kind of things, and can only stay on the
floor for so long in the Story Mode.
The derpy, frustrating controls in I am Bread are one thing. The near
impossibility to get the bread into the toaster is a completely
different story. I spent hours trying to get the bread in the toaster. I
even had others at Family Friendly Gaming try. None of us could get it
in there. We ran out of grip, or were not lined up right. I am Bread is
a game that will create real world anger.
