Land It Rocket
SCORE: 70
Land It Rocket is a downloadable only Wii U video game with
twenty-eight levels. The name of this game accurately describes what we
do. We launch a rocket, and then guide it toward to the landing zone.
The last thing we have to do in any level of Land It Rocket is to land
the rocket safely. Sounds like something you could do with your eyes
closed right? Right?
Not exactly. Why not? Because Land It Rocket puts obstacles in the way.
Things like missile launchers that shoot seeking missiles. And objects
that will move into your way. My favorite is the layout of the levels.
Land It Rocket has some tough areas to navigate. All of that is the bad
news in Land It Rocket. The good news is the controls are easy to pick
up and use.
Even though the controls are easy to pick up and use in Land It Rocket,
they can be the cause of many crashes. Momentum is very important in
Land It Rocket on the Wii U. Go too fast and your craft will explode on
a wall, ceiling, floor, or other object. It takes just the right touch
of thrust with angle of the flying craft to get to the location of the
landing pad.
Some levels in Land It Rocket throw in another speed bump - timing. Oh
yes that timing can feel nearly impossible when you fail a certain level
over and over again. Know what is worse than failing a level? Not being
able to skip it after failing fifty straight times. Land It Rocket
taught me one very important lesson - finesse is not in my skill set. I
also learned that a video game can create real world anger.
The orange and yellow main land graphics are pretty neat. There are
small animations like leaves falling from trees, and branches moving in
the wind. At least I think the wind was blowing in Land It Rocket. The
wind never interfered with my propulsion thankfully. The rocket ship
sounds fit Land It Rocket. The Endless mode in Land It Rocket is fun,
but also really hard. In that mode you fly around avoiding missiles as
long as you can.
Land It Rocket is a cheap indie game on the Wii U selling for $2.99
(Editor: at the time this review was written). I enjoyed my time playing
this home console video game. I like the idea behind Land It Rocket. I
wish there had been some power ups like shields to block those missiles
in some levels.
