Pix The Cat

Have you ever wanted to play Snake in a Pac-Man like maze? If you answered yes to that question then the developer Pastagames, and publisher Focus Home Interactive have a game for you on Steam called Pix The Cat. This cat collects eggs that turn into ducklings. He then takes the duckling to certain spaces where they will be safe.

One of the coolest things about Pix The Cat is we see the next level when we unlock it. We can also go back a level, which is only a waste of time. In Arcade mode it is all about time. You will need to score high enough to unlock the other modes. Arena is the one exception.

Pix The Cat comes with bright, colorful psychedelic graphics. They will change based on the bonus multiplier. If you get color based migraines you may want to check a video of Pix The Cat before purchasing it. It made my head feel funny while playing on the PC.

Pix The Cat offers controller support which is awesome. Pix The Cat feels more like a console game to me. Probably because it was released on the PS4 and Playstation Vita first. I ran into trouble with precision turning in Pix The Cat. I kept hitting the walls. Which was annoying. Other time it would go the wrong direction. Which ended the level since I ran into one of the duckies. Think of Snake in that instance.

The music is pleasant in Pix The Cat. I enjoyed listening to it while trying to get a high enough score to unlock additional content. Pix The Cat let me replay the same levels over and over again. Eventually I got good at a few of them. Repetition helps increase that speed, which produces a higher score.

Pix The Cat is a really cool idea. I enjoyed playing this downloadable only video game on the Personal Computer. I hope improvements are implemented in sequels to this game. Like making it more accessible to casual gamers who will get frustrated and give up in Arcade mode.
