Race the Sun
SCORE: 75
The Wii U finally has something for families to play again. I know
many of the readers out there had given up hope of finding anything
decent on the Wii U to purchase. You won't find Race the Sun in your
local retailer. Instead Race the Sun is a downloadable only video game.
Race the Sun shows its app origins in leveling up. Players must complete
certain goals (like jump ten times) to level up.
What good is leveling up in Race the Sun? You get items that are
equip-able on your ship. Like what? Things like a magnet, extension to
the jump booster, and more. Is Race the Sun an endless runner? I don't
know for certain. There are regions in Race the Sun. So you complete one
area and get to another area. I had problems getting past area three in
Race the Sun so I am unsure how long this game is.
Race the Sun has an addictive nature to it. You know you can do better,
complete that goal, and avoid smashing your ship into something. Also it
is bad in Race the Sun to stay in the shadows too long. Sunlight is
needed to power your craft in Race the Sun. This means you need to
collect light triangles throughout the game. The one problem with that
is they give you a speed boost. These objects are hard to avoid at
normal speed. Imagine trying with a turbo charge on.
Graphically Race the Sun is toned down. I like the bright colors many
other video games use. I noticed my eyes were tired after playing Race
the Sun. Maybe because the sun is in the background and setting while I
was playing Race the Sun. The music in Race the Sun is fantastic. I love
hearing the sounds, and reading all of the 'knowledge messages' in Race
the Sun. They are not overbearing and are actually helpful.
I enjoyed playing Race the Sun on the Wii U. I learned to avoid objects,
and also to jump over them. Once you get the jump in Race the Sun the
game is much more fun. Race the Sun changes every twenty four hours so
you can come back day and day and see what new things have been added
and/or removed. Race the Sun can be found on other systems like Steam,
and the PSN.
