Reel Fishing Master's Challenge
SCORE: 90
The Reel Fishing franchise has been floundering around for some time
now. It is great to see it get back on track with Reel Fishing Master's
Challenge on the Playstation Vita. The biggest downside to this hand
held video game is it is downloadable only. So the millions supporting
the physical copy movement are excluded.
The first thing I noticed in Reel Fishing Master's Challenge is how
great the graphics look. WOW! Reel Fishing Master's Challenge looks
amazing. We are talking beautiful scenery, fish, lake bottoms and more.
The tackles and screens are amazing to look at too.
When I was done marveling at the graphics in Reel Fishing Master's
Challenge I denoted the sounds are really smooth too. Relaxing, and fit
with the theme of fighting fish. After all those fish in the real world
become dinner. Fish is one of the meats that can clean out our arteries
so they are good to eat.
As if all of this were not enough to bring Reel Fishing back into the
good graces with families I found a story. A young man is going to be a
father so he leaves his pregnant wife to go fishing. His own father took
him fishing as a kid so he is reminiscing while trying to decide if he
is ready for the responsibility.
Reel Fishing Master's Challenge has a very retrospective feel to it. The
story can keep families playing long after they are tired of catching
fish. Catching fish starts easy in Reel Fishing Master's Challenge. It
gets harder as we go after bigger, tougher, and stronger fish. Those
bigger, stronger, tougher fish take longer to tire out. Which means you
have to avoid making any mistakes much longer. Or try to catch them
closer to the shore.
I know it is early in the year. Reel Fishing Master's Challenge has the
potential to become game of the year (GOTY) on the Playstation Vita. It
beats out anything else I have played on the PS Vita this year thus far.
Can any other games catch up to it?
