Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3
SCORE: 60
Koei Tecmo America is gambling on Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 in
the digital only format on the Nintendo 3DS and Playstation Vita. This
hand held video game is similar to the Dynasty Warrior franchise. There
are thousands of guys for us to hack and slash our way through. One of
the major differences is Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 has players
constantly swapping between characters. Why? They are constantly in
danger of dying without the player controlling them.
Why is a downloadable only version of Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 such
a gamble? For one the physical copy movement is still the majority of
the video game industry. Then there is the massive size of Samurai
Warriors Chronicles 3. Families will need a SD card with over twenty-two
thousand blocks free. That is over 2.6 gigs worth of space. Also enough
Internet bandwidth to download that large of a game. It took hours for
Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 to download when nothing else was going on
the network.
Graphically Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 looks a bit small and grainy.
We hack and slash through tons of characters in Samurai Warriors
Chronicles 3. Many of them look the same. Thankfully there is a
targeting to show which men and women you are supposed to hack on next.
Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 also tells you when one of your other
characters is in trouble. My impression is their AI is worthless. The
only way to keep them alive to swap to them when they are in danger.
Samurai Warriors Chronicles 3 is a tough video game. If you are a real
glutton for punishment you can go into the challenge mode. Which sets a
time limit on these difficult levels. The relationship aspect of Samurai
Warriors Chronicles 3 is interesting, just not interesting enough to
keep me coming back for hours of the same activity. I like being able to
ride horses, even if it seemed to make my warrior weaker. I thought it
would make him stronger.
The issues families will need to know about Samurai Warriors Chronicles
3 on the 3DS/Vita is enticement to lust, violence, death, and bad
language. As a teenager I do not appreciate the bad language. Why can't
games be created without that? It does nothing to enhance the game, it
just poisons it. Maybe the video game industry will progress past the
bad language crutch in the future.
