The Daniel Plan In Action

In the realm of exercise I have quite a bit of experience. From learning how to work out on the high school football team, to all of the weight lifting and body building in the US Air Force. I have exercised in a variety of ways for decades. Right now I get into video game work outs since it is the winter. I still do go out in the cold and exercise since it takes more energy to exercise in harsher climates.

I was curious about The Daniel Plan In Action, and requested a reviewable copy. Family Friendly Gaming was provided a copy of the two DVDs. Disc one contains the introduction and Pastor Rick Warren's sermon on The Daniel Plan. Disc two contains four work outs. They are Total Cardio, Cardio Abs, Total Body Upper, and Total Body Lower. The work outs last between thirty-two and thirty-six minutes.

I know there is controversy surrounding Pastor Rick Warren. I am not going into that in this review of The Daniel Plan In Action. I did notice from his sermon that he has not fully benefited from the plan as of yet. It is difficult for me being healthy and physically fit to accept some of the more extreme portions of this plan from someone who is less fit.

The four work outs are good and long in The Daniel Plan In Action. They are encouraging, uplifting, and hit quite a few body parts. They do get boring quickly though. Compared to exercise games on the Kinect The Daniel Plan In Action is lagging. Which is a shame because I would love to see a Christian exercise video game that uses Kinect.

My biggest concern about The Daniel Plan In Action is the marketing nature. There is a nutrition guide, DVDs, journal, book on the program, and a cook book. Buying all of it will set you back a pretty penny. I do not know where all of their profits are spent. I do know Family Friendly Gaming has never received one penny from them. I also am not aware of one Christian video game developer who has received money from them. They could support these ministries and have chosen not to. Yet they keep bringing new products to the marketplace for people to purchase.

One of the biggest issues the church has is its image of having plump members. I rarely hear a pastor talk about the sin of gluttony. I also rarely hear about pastors talk about fasting. So I believe The Daniel Plan In Action has its heart in the right place. There are plenty of church members who could eat less and exercise more.

The keys to The Daniel Plan In Action are Fitness, Food, Faith, Focus, and Friends. Rick Warren even says in The Daniel Plan In Action that he will buy you a friend if you don't have one. I told the TV set that I am waiting for that purchased friend as he promised. Thus far it has not arrived.
