The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home
SCORE: 77
With the decline of the video game industry we have focused more of
our time and finances on retro games. Picking a variety of video games
from different eras. Maybe they were before Family Friendly Gaming.
Maybe they were missed when we gave too many greedy video game companies
too much attention. Whatever the reason we have opened the door to them
now. The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home on the original Playstation is
one such game.
I loved The Dukes of Hazzard television show as a kid. The General Lee
was one of the coolest cars, with the greatest drivers. As an adult I
can recognize things like Daisy's lack of clothing, and disobedience of
authority figures. The authorities in The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For
Home are shown as incompetent, and borderline evil. Boss Hogg is shown
as a greedy glutton.
The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home feels like playing through multiple
television episodes. In fact things from the show are incorporated into
The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home on the Playstation. What kind of
things? Saving Uncle Jesse, Boss Hogg, running from Sheriff Rosco P.
Coltrane, getting the mortgage to the bank on time, stopping robbers, racing, to the bank
and more.
The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home looks good for a Playstation video
game. Especially the cut scene movies. I have to admit the characters do
not always look just like the real life actors/actresses. The General
Lee looks just like the car from the show. The voices are another story.
The same goes from the introduction song in The Dukes of Hazzard Racing
For Home. The signature horn is also found in this home console video
game.
The controls in The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home are touchy. It is
so easy to get turned around and start going the wrong direction. There
are tons of jumps in The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home. Some missions
in The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home require the player to smash into
other cars. Other missions have us avoid getting too much damage in our
vehicle.
The bad side to The Dukes of Hazzard Racing For Home is there is
enticement to lust (something the ESRB missed), some violence, alcohol,
and tobacco. There are evil characters in The Dukes of Hazzard Racing
For Home that commit crimes. Thankfully the heroes in The Dukes of
Hazzard Racing For Home stop them. The sad part is the heroes are
constantly falsely accused of the crimes.
