Wars and Battles
SCORE: 70
My favorite style of video game is turn based strategy. Wars and
Battles is a turn based strategy. It is based on a variety of battles
and wars. There are even what if scenarios in Wars and Battles. Since
Wars and Battles is based on war expect to see violence. I see Wars and
Battles as a game for teenagers and above. I know what Apple said, and
we are quibbling over one year.
Wars and Battles has long loading times with decent looking graphics.
iPad owners can swap between 2D and 3D graphics in Wars and Battles. The
2D graphics can save some of the battery drain from this downloadable
only hand held tablet video game. It might also stop some of those pesky
game crashes we ran into. I think surrounding an enemy and having
everyone go after them at once may have been a bit too much for Wars and
Battles at times.
I wish Wars and Battles was on the PS Vita and/or Nintendo 3DS in the
physical format. I know plenty of strategy gamers that only play
physical copies of games. Many of them would go back to an older Shining
Force game before downloading a game. Maybe Wars and Battles will
progress to the physical realm at some future date. I would buy one for
twenty to thirty dollars.
Wars and Battles has this real cool feature called stacking. This allows
the player to merge multiple units on the same space. They become more
powerful thanks to the merger. This is a great way to overwhelm defenses
and capture cities. Which is one of the main early on missions for the
Allies in Wars and Battles. In case you were curious, you can play the
Axis in Wars and Battles too.
The music can feel epic at times, especially while watching the loading
bar crawl along. An ant walked across the screen and beat the loading
bar. Man I really miss plug and play video games. There are some in-app
purchases for additional areas after already paying $6.99 for the app.

I like the strategy and objectives in Wars and Battles. It was weird
that the terrain was flat in the 3D mode. I also found it odd that human
troops were taller than tanks in Wars and Battles. There are some words
in Wars and Battles that your family may find offensive. They describe
battles, and the nature of war. I noticed them on numerous screens while
playing Wars and Battles.
