Word Party

I am very thankful Lightwood Games provided Family Friendly Gaming a download code for Word Party on the Wii U. This home console video game contains twenty-eight mini games. Speed is always important when playing Word Party. Normally I like to take my time trying to find the right word. Word Party has a timer and families only have so much time before the mini game is over with.

Half of the mini games are unlocked when families start playing Word Party. Then as you play Word Party, then you will unlock the other half. I noticed Word Party puts a premium on multiple family members. You can practice the mini games in Word Party with multiple family members, and even play them with just one player. Word Party can be a really good party game that is also a learning game.

I love how Word Party teaches us reading, words, spelling, and more. My favorite mini game in Word Party was swapping letters around to spell new and different words. In fact it was the favorite of quite a few of us here at Family Friendly Gaming. Instructions are shown when a mini game is selected, and right before the player(s) start playing the mini game in Word Party.

The music is nice in Word Party. The graphics are bright and colorful. There are a variety of different kinds of mini games in Word Party on the Wii U. Another good one in Word Party is the words on the graffiti wall. Families are given a theme and must pick only the words that match that theme. It is possible to get a negative score in the mini games in this Wii U game.

I had trouble with a couple of the mini games in Word Party. They were the ones where players must enter the ending of a word. I had trouble finding the first letter in the words to know what I was spelling. The robot mini game is the most complex one in Word Party. Families must take the top of the robot and connect it to the middle. They also have to connect the bottom of the robot to the middle. When it is all complete the letters on the complete robot must spell a word.

It was a real pleasure for me to play a video game that teaches good lessons. They have become few and far between in recent years. I would love to see Lightwood Games grow into the physical copy realm of the video game industry. Word Party is a great game that deserves to be on store shelves selling right beside Shovel Knight, and Minecraft. What do you think?
