Ys Chronicles 1
SCORE: 60
Numerous older role playing video games are being ported over the iOS
and Android platforms. Ys Chronicles 1 is the most recent one to enter
Family Friendly Gaming Universe. The original game had players run into
enemies with a sword sticking out. Levels helped determined which side
took damage. Sometimes it was both sides. Ys Chronicles 1 upgrades that
slightly.
The way Ys Chronicles 1 on the iOS updates that is it has the player
auto-attack when they get close to an enemy and they are facing the
enemy. Kind of like Zelda video games with the auto jump. Thanks to the
speed of the character it still feels a lot like playing chicken with
the enemies. Another way of helping Ys Chronicles 1 feel like the
original. Which helps this game stay true to its roots.
Ys Chronicles 1 contains a religious system that trains the gamer to
worship a false goddess. The religious belief of the overwhelming
majority of Americans (Christianity) is not taught in Ys Chronicles 1
nor is it tolerated. It is a real shame in this day and age there is
such hatred of Christians. Society should have become more tolerant and
inclusive of Christians. Especially when trying to sell a game to
Christians.
The music in Ys Chronicles 1 is fantastic, and there are nice details in
the graphics. The cut scenes are near anime quality. Gamers will get a
fair length of a game for the price paid. Ys Chronicles 1 is also a one
time purchase video game. None of that repeat pay to play that ruins so
many apps on the market today. Grinding is required in various locales
of Ys Chronicles 1.
Blood, gore, partial nudity, and violence are some additional issues
families will want to be aware of. I do not recall if all of this
content was in the original. I did check the PSP version and saw it was
in there. And the ESRB denoted them. Apple's review team missed quite a
bit of bad content and descriptors when they rated Ys Chronicles 1.
Guess that is why Family Friendly Gaming is here - to point out what
they missed. They really should pay us for this valuable service.
The controls in Ys Chronicles 1 are different. Players tap and hold
somewhere on the screen. Move your finger in a direction to move the
character that way. It can be a real pain when doors are near the bottom
of the screen. Plus my wrist hurt after playing for twenty minutes or
more. I ran right by doors, enemies, and more in Ys Chronicles 1. Ys
Chronicles 1 tries something with the controls, but it does not compare
to a D-pad and a few buttons.
