Chime Sharp

Family Friendly Gaming was provided a digital download code for Chime Sharp on Steam. I am not aware of any physical copies of this puzzle game. It has been some years since anyone at Family Friendly Gaming has played a Chime game. I love the concept of Chime. Chime Sharp fulfills that concept masterfully well. I just wish Chime Sharp was more approachable for casual gamers.

We get odd shapes (some of them remind me of Tetris) in Chime Sharp. We must group them together to make boxes. The more boxes, and the larger the boxes the higher our score and multiplier. A sonar like line goes across the screen. We only have so much time to make these boxes. The goal is to fill as much of the background space as possible with the boxes we build.

I wish Chime Sharp would let us just cover the area, and let us pass if we get enough of the area. Without having to create the boxes. Levels are also too short in Chime Sharp in my opinion. Especially when we look at the massive amounts of real estate we need to cover. Graphically Chime Sharp looks okay. It did not blow me away, or make me think retro. I might have expected better since Chime Sharp took so long to boot up.

The music in Chime Sharp is different. I am sure there are people into this kind of music. I am not. It is sort of techno without the flare or excitement. The game play is fun in Chime Sharp. I wish there was some kind of an endless mode without a timer to just enjoy putting down patterns. I might be capable of actually finishing a board that way. Practice mode is the closest to what I am looking for.

I like Chime Sharp. I wish this game was provided in the physical copy format. I wish Chime Sharp had a more casual mode that let gamers progress through the entire game. I also wish Chime Sharp was on one of the home consoles. Or more than one of the home consoles. I hope this game ports to them in the future. I would also like to see Chime Sharp at retail.
