Exile's End
SCORE: 58
Exile's End is tough. Exile's End is difficult. Exile's End is for
the hardcore gamers only. Casual and family gamers will not be into
Exile's End. Family Friendly Gaming was emailed a digital downloadable
code for Exile's End on the Wii U. My research was unable to find a
physical copy version of Exile's End on any of the formats it is on.
What are the formats? PC, Linux, MAC, PS4, PS Vita, and of course Wii U.
Exile's End comes with a story mode, and a survival mode. There are
plenty of controls, blood, and violence in this 2D side scrolling game
that reminds me of Metroid. The short lasting loading screen brought me
into some nice sounding music. Exile's End looked better than many indie
games I have played. To be fair Exile's End looks like a 16-bit game to
me. There are some improvements here and there.
I was dismayed at the high level of offensive bad language in Exile's
End. Here is another game where the ESRB has failed families. The ESRB
has dropped so many balls we can't even walk around without slipping or
tripping on one. Exile's End will not let you see where you are falling.
Which is a problem since we take fall damage. Yes we can die from
falling too far in Exile's End.
Exile's End is like the 16-bit 2D side scrolling games from the past in
another way. What is it? The lack of direction. We also get some rough
to complete jumping puzzles in Exile's End. Look for spikes on the
ceiling in some areas too. Exile's End does everything it can to kill
the player off in a bloody mess. Exile's End is kind to the player in
the ammunition department. How so? We get unlimited ammo in Exile's End.
Be aware that the survival mode has a time limit in Exile's End. I liked
being able to pick up rocks I had thrown at an enemy. This re-usability
of weapons is a nice touch. Exile's End provides all kinds of anger
inducing cheap hits. I glitched rocks through walls. I am not really
sure why our ship exploded in this ultra hardcore Metroid clone. The
generic ship crash story in Exile's End made me laugh. Like I was
looking at memes of Nickelback's photograph.
