Falling Skies Season Five

I have been watching Falling Skies on DVD since season one. I kept trying to work in a review of the first season, but then the next season cames out for a good price, and it never makes it onto my plate. I will have to rewatch the first four seasons to get reviews of them going. I took the opportunity after watching season five to finally get a review going of this franchise. To make matters more interesting Falling Skies Season Five is the final season of the show.

There are going to be spoilers in here. I want that out there. If spoilers bother you, then please skip the rest of this review. I continue to be disappointed with the low amount of episodes in seasons. Falling Skies Season Five has ten episodes. For me a full season is twenty-two to twenty-four episodes. So this season of Falling Skies is less than half of a season, and sells for the same price as full seasons.

Falling Skies Season Five is not for kids. The blood, gore, violence, death, bad language, and more is at extremely high levels. It is shocking how much blood and gore is in Falling Skies Season Five. It is stuffed into 440 minutes of viewing time. There are a couple of bonus features like Farewell to Skies Featurettes, 2015 WonderCon Panel with Cast, and A Look Back. They are generally pretty short.

Falling Skies Season Five exposes a double standard we have known about for some time. The Masons are privileged, and protected. Others are expendable. Which is a real shame. Certain deaths in Falling Skies Season Five made no sense to me. They were used for plot points like Pope hating Tom Mason. We also find out the reason for the invasion.

Falling Skies Season Five likes to throw out typical liberal propaganda and hate speech. Falling Skies Season Five hates on the military, and people that live out in the country. Lies and deceit are justified in some instances and condemned in others. The queen of the Espheni is an interesting character. How she dies is interesting. As is the convenient way all of the invading aliens die when she dies.

Falling Skies Season Five gets really preachy with liberal beliefs at the end of the final show. I would hope one day Holly Weird could become tolerant of conservative thought and philosophy. But the way they discriminate against Christians, I won't hold my breath. In my personal opinion Falling Skies Season Five is worth about one dollar per episode. So ten dollars.
