Game Tycoon 2
SCORE: 68
I loved Game Dev Tycoon on the Personal Computer. So when my dad told
me Game Tycoon 2 came in I was extremely excited. I was so thankful
Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code for this steam video
game. I thought it was the sequel to Game Dev Tycoon and they had
dropped the 'dev' part of the title. Guess what? I was wrong. I was way
wrong.
The tutorial is important in Game Tycoon 2. It helps families learn how
to play this downloadable only PC video game. My biggest problem with
Game Tycoon 2 has nothing to do with the tutorial. It has to do with the
collision detection. The game points and tells me to click in a certain
spot. I do as the game instructs and nothing happens. I finally found
out that for some reason the collision detection and where I am clicking
are not the same thing. I had to click on something else.
Game Tycoon 2 is realistic in going and hiring workers, coming up with a
game plan, and having people work on it. There is also a warehouse to go
to, and more. It is easy to get deep in debt and get a game over screen
in Game Tycoon 2. It is smart to take things slow, and build up. Certain
parts of Game Tycoon 2 are tedious like having to research the
technology before being able to come up with a game plan.
Game Tycoon 2 did not give me that starting out in the garage as a one
man studio feel like Game Dev Tycoon did. I also find some of the genres
to be really odd. Things like adult games. Know what is missing from
Game Tycoon 2 when we start out? Puzzle games. One of the biggest
earning sections of video games is not there. Why? Do we really need the
separation between violent first person shooters and violent third
person shooters? Why not have shooter, and then there is room for
puzzles.
Pausing Game Tycoon 2 is intelligent when you set things up. Just
remember to un-pause when you get ready to have it happen. Game Tycoon 2
looks better than Game Dev Tycoon. The music is okay, and there are tons
of options. The menu layout, and way to move around locations is a bit
clunky in Game Tycoon 2. The worst part for me is the collision
detection bug that ruined the experience. Maybe if Family Friendly
Gaming had a budget for QC we could help. But we don't.
