Ice Age Collision Course
SCORE: 80
The Christmas Eve movie at Family Friendly Gaming was Ice Age
Collision Course. This animated movie has plenty of laughs. It also
teaches parents to let go of their children when they are ready to go
out on their own. Manny has to deal with his daughter wanting to get
married. Manny has to let go of protecting his little girl, and let the
new mammoth in her life take over that role.
Ice Age Collision Course has plenty of Scrat in it. Scrat finds an UFO
in the ice that is powered by acorns. He winds up in space creating our
solar system, and sends asteroids on their path to earth. These
asteroids are magnetic. Which means they are attracted to the same spot
on Earth since they have already hit that spot in the past. The
characters in Ice Age Collision Course deal with an extinction level
event.
There are some potential issues families will have with Ice Age
Collision Course. Parts of Ice Age Collision Course feel like the war on
men. When Manny forgets his anniversary for example. The selfishness of
Eastern religious beliefs is shown. The Llama character is annoying
beyond belief. There is Looney Tunes like violence. Much of it is for
comic effect. The controversial and divisive fantasy about dinosaurs
having feathers is taught in Ice Age Collision Course.
Ice Age Collision Course has numerous funny moments. Scrat has some of
the best parts in Ice Age Collision Course. One of the themes of this
movie is everyone having someone. The one exception to that is Sid.
SPOILER ALERT! Sid finally gets a woman of his species that is
interested in him. She is really old, but the fountain of youth kept her
young.
There are some cool bonus features in Ice Age Collision Course. From the
Story so far, to Scrat Spaced Out Mini movie. The most interesting to me
was The Science of it All: deGrasse Tyson deBunks. He exposes some of
the lack of science in Ice Age Collision Course. He also teaches his
religious belief of the Old Earth Theory. So we can not take all of his
opinions as gospel.
