KLAUS

I am thankful Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code for KLAUS on the Playstation 4. This downloadable only home console video game clocks in over three gigs. HUGE! That is close to half of the entire amount some families can afford of Internet usage in an entire month. To make matters worse the Playstation 4 had to update before I could download it. Even more of an Internet drain. I turned off the Internet connection as soon as I finished downloading this platformer.

KLAUS is tough. This is the kind of a video game that causes gamers to break controllers. Real world frustration, and real world anger are the fruits of playing KLAUS on the Playstation 4. What ever happened to video games being an exercise in relaxation? KLAUS is an exercise in stress creation. What is with all these indie companies deciding games are too easy and they have make the nearly impossible.

If you are a casual gamer, or a family gamer then you will not want to play KLAUS. I feel like the ESRB's 'E' rating is for Experts Only. Unless you can ski a triple black diamond, stay far away. How exactly does that help a company make money? Turn away millions of potential sales. I don't get it. Probably never will. The graphics are not that great. I guess the spin is to try and call it artistic.

The controller will grunt at you while you play KLAUS. Obnoxious is how the sounds felt to me. The middle touch pad is needed to highlight certain objects. Then you can move them with the right joystick. Sounds fun? It take a few tries to get used to. I found it a very clever and annoying game play mechanic all at the same time. I dreaded every time I had to use it. Died plenty of times thanks to it too.

There are some fun secret levels in KLAUS. Which is a nice break from the frustrating regular levels. Why are there spikes in the basement? Controlling two characters at once can be problematic. Especially when the screen is scrolling and we need to swap to one of them to use a skill. KLAUS can cause headaches. Multiple people that played KLAUS here at FFG had a headache during game play.
