Legacy of Ys Books I&II
SCORE: 63
After we played the first two Ys games on the iOS platform here at
Family Friendly Gaming, a decision was made to purchase Legacy of Ys
Books I&II on the Nintendo DS. Would it be better on a dual screen
system with controls. In some regards Legacy of Ys Books I&II is
definitely better than the app versions. The game play is certainly
better. The graphics are not as good though.
Legacy of Ys Books I&II lets gamers play with the touch screen controls
or normal controller based controls. I found the controller based
controls to be a much better way to play Ys. Legacy of Ys Books I&II
carries along the annoyances from the first game. Take for example
players have to talk to the fortune teller to progress the story. I am
the kind of a person who wants to avoid those that commune with demons.
Since Legacy of Ys Books I&II contains two retro role playing games,
families can expect to grind. It is annoying to play a game where your
character can demolish the monsters in an area with one hit; yet we can
not beat the boss. The solution in Legacy of Ys Books I&II is to grind
your level up to beat the boss. I found this annoying, as well as the
counter intuitive menu screens.
Legacy of Ys Books I&II includes blood, gore, enticement to lust,
violence, bad language, nudity, a false goddess, idol worship, and more.
I used to think retro role playing video games were better with less bad
content than current role playing video games. Legacy of Ys Books I&II
proves retro video games have been proselytizing anti-Christian beliefs
for a long time.
I know this franchise continued on for a long time. So I know asking for
no sequels to Legacy of Ys Books I&II is pointless. I wish the Ys series
would clean up the content and make it more friendly to the super
majority of American families that identify as Christian. Legacy of Ys
Books I&II contains wireless Nintendo DS multi-card play if three of
your friends also have this game.
