Speedrunners on the Personal Computer reminds me of Giana Sisters
Dream Runners. There are four characters in Speedrunners. That can be
four local players, one local player and three computer controlled
characters, or another combination of real players and computer
controlled characters. There is also that less sought after online mode
which drains Internet usage and gives families Internet usage fines.
The graphics are a bit on the small side, and it takes some time to
adapt to the controls. I had trouble with the wall climb, and then
jumping off the walls. Plus the intelligence of the computer bots is
really high. I set them to easy and had trouble winning. There are
multiple control schemes, and they are adjustable to your liking
thankfully. I was happy to play Speedrunners with the Family Friendly
Gaming PC controller.
Why isn't Speedrunners on the PS4, Wii U, and Xbox One. I mean no
disrespect to Steam gamers, but Speedrunners seems like a better fit on
the home consoles. Speedrunners is a downloadable only video game. There
are no physical copies of Speedrunners as of yet. I think it would be
cool to see Speedrunners go head to head with Giana Sisters Dream
Runners at retail.
Players can outrun their opponents. Avoid obstacles, and use their wire
to swing across certain areas. There are also attacks and boosts that
can be used in Speedrunners. The computer controlled characters killed
me so often when I was in the lead. When you die first in Speedrunners
then you can speed things up by shrinking the screen and making it
easier for the other characters to die. How do you die? Get knocked off
the viewing screen.
Speedrunners is a party game that families can get into. This is
definitely a competitive game where the goal is to be better than your
opponents. The music in Speedrunners will draw your attention to the
action. I liked the music in Speedrunners. I wish Speedrunners was
easier and on the home consoles. Please be aware that Speedrunners can
create real world arguments.
