Steep

Family Friendly Gaming was emailed a digital download code for Steep on the Playstation 4 (PS4). This winter based video game is also on the Personal Computer (PC), and Xbox One. The download size of Steep is massive. It is just over seventeen gigs. Physical copy gamers will be happy to hear Steep is also provided in the much sought after physical copy format. Steep requires an Internet connection to play. Offline gamers are not going to be happy about that.

There are four activities family members can do in Steep. There is skiing, snowboarding, wing suits, and paragliding in Steep. Characters can also walk and jog in Steep. Those are pretty slow on these large mountains. There are multiple areas families can visit in this thirteen and older only rated video game. The Cursed Mountains, Aiguilles, Mount Blanc, Pointee Percee, Monte Rosa, Switzerland and Matterhorn are places gamers can visit.

There are a ton of activities to perform in Steep. Some of them are speed based, and others are points based. Drop zones can be found all over the place in Steep. The player must use their binoculars to try and find something in the drop zone. When you get close to a drop zone the game will let you know. Sometimes I was in the middle of doing something else. This can be seen in the videos I did of Steep. I hope you enjoy them.

I wish Steep had a completely offline mode. I do not like having to use up Internet resources to play a game. Steep really wants gamers to connect with other gamers. I did not connect so the game developers can understand not all of us are into that. I wish they would celebrate my diversity because Steep would be so much better with an offline only version. There is also bad language in Steep. I had to keep turning off the copyrighted songs in Steep. I wish those would stay off. It makes doing videos that much more difficult.

Steep has six main types of game play styles. They are Extreme Rider, Bone Collector, Freestyler, Explorer, Pro Rider, and Free Rider. The skiing and snowboarding work really well. There are tons of annoying spots in Steep that a player can get stuck. Thankfully it is easy to go to the map view, or restart an event. It took me longer to adapt to the controls of wing suiting, and paragliding. The tricks in Steep are spotty at best. Sometimes they work, sometimes they lag, and sometimes nothing happens.

There is an in game store in Steep. Gamers can purchase different costumes for their character in Steep. None of them will impact the stats of your character. That way no one can complain of an unfair advantage. I enjoyed playing Steep. There is a lot of places to visit in this game. I wish the bad language had been left on the designers computer, and not made it into the completed product. I also wish there was an offline only mode. They could give us avatar characters like what we see in Forza Horizon games. The graphical glitches here and there are probably there because of having to connect to servers instead of playing from disc.
