Superbeat Xonic
SCORE: 54
I am thankful Family Friendly Gaming rented a copy of Superbeat Xonic
on the Playstation Vita (PS Vita) for this review. This is another game
where the lack of ethics and morals from people in PR cost Family
Friendly Gaming a reviewable copy. Because we stay honest, true, and
keep integrity we are punished by the corruption in the video game
industry. We refuse to join in the evil acts and deeds.
The PS Vita continues to sputter along. Releases like Superbeat Xonic in
the physical copy format are few and far between. Plus Superbeat Xonic
is way too niche. Not many families are going to want to play this game.
Hardcore gamers (for the most part) are going to ignore games like
Superbeat Xonic. This is a musical rhythm game that targets people into
Japanese music. While that will work great in Japan, it is niche here in
the United States.
The game play style in Superbeat Xonic is very interesting. Players can
use the buttons, or the touch screen to register when the objects
(usually blocks) come from the bottom up near the top. Anyone else think
Superbeat Xonic would work better on the Nintendo 3DS? I thought so too.
Problem is the collision detection does not always register. Fails on
too many objects and you lose the level with no way of recovering.
Some of the bad stuff in Superbeat Xonic that families will want to be
advised on is lack of attire, enticement to lust, bad language, blood,
and more. The crazy levels starting in the six track show how difficult
this hand held video game is. The three tracks in Superbeat Xonic are 4,
6, and 6FX. The Japanese songs can be fast, slow, techno, rock, and more
in Superbeat Xonic.
The main modes in Superbeat Xonic are Backstage, Ranking, Stage, World
Tour, and Options. The Stage section is where the majority of the
content in Superbeat Xonic is unlocked. Under that is the 4 TRAX, 6
TRAX, and 6 TRAX FX. Ultimately fifty songs can be unearthed in
Superbeat Xonic. The Freeplay is one of the coolest parts in Superbeat
Xonic in my book. The World Tour takes time since not everything is
unlocked at the beginning.
The graphics in Superbeat Xonic are bright and colorful. At times they
were distractions from all of the blocks flying up toward the top of the
screen. Superbeat Xonic gave me a headache. I wish they would have
translated songs for the American audience. As it stands Superbeat Xonic
feels lazy. If I wanted an import game I would import it. The biggest
problem with Superbeat Xonic is taps and swipes not registering. In my
opinion Superbeat Xonic is worth ten dollars at most.
