The Angry Birds Movie
SCORE: 86
We are closing in on the end of our march to Christmas with movies we
watch here at Family Friendly Gaming. The Angry Birds Movie is one of
the movies we had high hopes in. Thankfully we really enjoyed this
animated movie based on the app, video game, and well known franchise.
The Angry Birds Movie is humorous from beginning to the end. There is
also some interesting commentary in The Angry Birds Movie. Some of it
good, and some of it bad.
The Angry Birds Movie contains a few issues families will want to know
about. There is some violence in The Angry Birds Movie. This movie
really builds up to the part where the pigs get attacked by the birds
with a launcher. There is also Looney Tunes kind of harm that comes to
certain characters. The Angry Birds Movie also promotes the religious
belief of evolution by stating the fake news story of dinosaurs being
related to birds.
In the beginning of The Angry Birds Movie the birds are all happy. They
do not like anger. So angry birds are sent to an annoying whack job
teacher who has a class on anger management. She tries to shove the
gross, disgusting and failed political correctness philosophy down the
throats of the birds who have done angry things in the past. Her
anti-Christian concepts can be offensive on so many levels. Thankfully
Red burns her verbally at almost every opportunity.
Red is joined by the speedy Chuck (yellow bird), and the volatile Bomb
(the black bird that blows up). Pigs invade their island and pretend to
be friends. They ultimately steal the eggs to eat them. I noticed some
commentary on how horrible abortion is in The Angry Birds Movie. At this
point the happy birds turn to Red because they need an angry bird to get
their unborn chicks back.
There is an interesting Eagle character in The Angry Birds Movie. Mighty
Eagle is his name. The birds build a boat and sail over to the pigs
island. From there they attack and save the eggs. Red is given a new
house (his is destroyed when the pigs land on bird island). Red is also
considered a hero in the town. Anger is no longer shunned and the
residents of bird island comprehend its uses.
There are tons of extras on the Blu-ray/DVD we purchased on Black
Friday. The four hatchling shorts are interesting. It was interesting
that there was no Fathers Day one (just one for Mothers Day), and Merry
Christmas was censored. Is Sony part of the war on men? Is Sony part of
the war on Christians? They did include some other highly divisive and
controversial content.
