The Eyes of Ara

Family Friendly Gaming was recently given a digital download code for The Eyes of Ara on Steam. This digital download is under five hundred megs. Which is crazy small when I consider how nice some of the graphics look in The Eyes of Ara. Other areas are a bit too dark for my personal tastes. The Eyes of Ara reminds me of games like Myst and Isles of Derek. Which are also PC games.

The Eyes of Ara looks nice, and it sounds nice. If you like point and click adventure games like Myst then you will be right at home playing The Eyes of Ara. I have a confession to make. I do not like Myst at all. I am not into this kind of a game. I do not comprehend the directions and get stuck. This happened to me in The Eyes of Ara. So if you love point and click first person adventure games please take my review with a grain of salt.

The Eyes of Ara makes players think. Some of us are not as smart as others. I am sure there are clever solutions to some of these problems. I got tired of trying to find them, and put my mouse cursor on the side of the screen and watched the room spin around. For me that was more entertainment than trying to solve these problems. It is not like the Amazing Race or anything. I won't be awarded a million dollars for beating every puzzle in a video game.

The directions for The Eyes of Ara are in a really small font. I am not losing my eye sight or anything. The Eyes of Ara made me squint to try and see the directions. This helped add to my personal frustration. The Eyes of Ara humbled me quickly. I am obviously not on the same wave length as the game developers. I wish The Eyes of Ara let me see my characters feet. I also would like to be able to see farther out there.

There is only one way to finish the puzzles in The Eyes of Ara. I wish The Eyes of Ara provided multiple paths to success. Especially when some of the controls can be confusing. Like the screen scrolling default. It can be fixed in the options menu. I had to find my way to the options menu which was no easy task. I wish there were multiple difficulty settings in The Eyes of Ara.
