The Sun and Moon
SCORE: 69
I am thankful Family Friendly Gaming was provided a download code for
The Sun and Moon on the Playstation Network. This downloadable only
video game works on the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita. The Sun and
Moon is all about burrowing through the ground. Momentum is needed to go
deep though. So players have to learn the right momentum to get through
without going out the other side and losing the level.
There are just over 150 levels in The Sun and Moon. Collecting three
pixels with our pixel character and getting to the exit (that looks like
a black hole) is the goal in The Sun and Moon. This is easier said than
done in most levels of The Sun and Moon. Why? Because there are spikes,
and it is really easy to fall out of the bottom and plunge to your
pixels doom.
Graphically The Sun and Moon describes itself as minimalistic. That is
being very kind. There are small graphics with color schemes that can
make some family members sick. My head felt funny after every single
game play session with The Sun and Moon on the Playstation 4. Gamers
will not play The Sun and Moon for its graphical prowess. They will play
it for the game play mechanics.
There have been two reactions here at Family Friendly Gaming to the
music in The Sun and Moon. The first camp likes the tunes as it morphs
throughout the game. The second camp does not like the music. That tells
me the music in The Sun and Moon will move some people, and other people
will dislike it. Not everyone likes the same thing and it is impossible
to please everyone.
I found The Sun and Moon to be very clever. My biggest problem with The
Sun and Moon is it is difficult. Each level in The Sun and Moon unlocks
one or more other levels. The menu layout screen is the strangest I have
ever seen. There are always multiple levels to play in The Sun and Moon.
If you are completely stuck on a certain level then you will not be able
to play any of the levels after it. I wish The Sun and Moon had some
kind of a casual mode for families to be able to skip levels they are
not capable of beating.
