My heart skipped a beat when I heard Zen Studios provided Family
Friendly Gaming a digital download code for Castlestorm VR on the
Playstation 4 VR (PS4 VR). I have played a variety of VR games, and the
Castlestorm games. So it was a combination I was happy to play. Please
note I knew this game would come to PS4 VR eventually when I first heard
about the PC VR version of Castlestorm VR.
There is no physical version of Castlestorm VR at this time. I hope that
is something that will be fixed in the future. Time will tell. I know
Family Friendly Gaming asked for a physical copy of pinball games and
that happened. Family Friendly Gaming also asked for a physical copy
version of Job Simulator and that happened. Do not dismiss the
opportunity for a physical copy version in the future.
The main menu area of Castlestorm VR is fabulous. We are in a medieval
theater with popcorn, drink, helmet, sword, knights, king and queen
(behind us), and more. Zen Studios put some serious effort into that
menu screen, let me tell you. Castlestorm VR looks good in the main game
play levels too. I felt like I was so much closer playing in VR than any
previous Castlestorm video game.
If you played previous versions of Castlestorm then you know what to
expect from Castlestorm VR. If you have not played a previous version of
Castlestorm then let me explain it to you. It is a tower defense, tower
offense video game. Your castle is on the left and their castle is on
the right. We send troops to attack, as well as special powered up
things like catapults. We can also send a hero to go out there and fight
the enemies. The goal varies depending on the mission. Sometimes we
capture their flag, other times we destroy their base. There are even
specialized hero missions where we do things like stop thieves from
stealing all the gold.
The issues families will have with this THIRTEEN and OLDER only ESRB
rated video game is violence, blood, magic, and more. There is online
multiplayer in Castlestorm VR. I did not play that so I can not speak to
the community. I like Castlestorm so I enjoyed Castlestorm VR. I do
recognize that Castlestorm VR is not for the younger members of the
family. Only for the older members.
