Double Dragon IV
SCORE: 54
In all of the years Family Friendly Gaming has been around this is
only the second time we are sounding off on Double Dragon (Double Dragon
Neon was the first). I am thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a
digital downloadable code for Double Dragon IV on the Playstation 4. I
could not find a physical copy version of Double Dragon IV for the
millions of gamers within the physical copy movement. I did find there
was a Double Dragon V on the Super NES.
Double Dragon IV does not have the upgrade to the graphics like Double
Dragon Neon. Double Dragon IV looks slightly better than an 8-bit video
game. We punch, kick, pummel, and physical destroy all of the men and
women who attack us. There is enticement to lust, lack of attire, bad
language, gore, and blood that accompany the violent content. I found I
was more aggressive and quicker to anger after playing Double Dragon IV.
Double Dragon IV contains a story mode and a two player duel. Families
can play as Billy or Jimmy Lee. Expect plenty of cheap off screen hits
to annoy you in Double Dragon IV. Thankfully this downloadable only
video game gives players fifteen lives. There are three lives per
credit, and five credits in the game. Double Dragon IV is a retro
brawler where it is hard to dodge. I seriously question the collision
detection in Double Dragon IV.
I liked the retro cut scenes. I wish the profanity had been left out of
it. I also wish dodging was easier in Double Dragon IV. I liked being
able to move into the background trying to avoid the annoying amount of
bad guys and bad girls who came after me. There were a steady stream of
them in each of the levels. If you are feeling excessively violent you
can pick up weapons to damage the bad people even more.
Double Dragon IV is around half a gig in terms of download size. The
violence gets repetitive and boring after awhile. I tried to follow the
command of Jesus Christ and turn the other cheek while playing Double
Dragon IV on the Playstation 4. That did not work well. I just died, and
died again every other time I tried it. Double Dragon IV looks retro,
sounds retro, and plays retro.
