EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic

I am pleased Family Friendly Gaming was emailed a digital download code for EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic on the Playstation 4. There is a physical copy version of EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic on the PS4 and Xbox One for the millions upon millions of gamers in the physical copy movement. It is gratifying to see games like EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic make it into the respected physical copy realm.

EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic is a turn based role playing game set in a fantasy world. There was once a powerful society that eventually crumbled and fell. Then new empires grew out of it. One of the most important things in EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic is stances. There is ranged and melee. If you are in melee your character can not hit enemies who are up in the sky during battles. So a turn is used to switch stances.

The talent table is by far my favorite part of EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic. We collect or craft specific items. After a level up one of these can be applied on the talent table. The one rule is you can only use a space right next to a space that has already been activated. There are some cool bonuses on the talent table if you can work your way down to them.

The issues families can have with EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic are magic, violence, false gods, tree worship, language, and more. There is a special island in EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic where we can plant, water, and reap. This is important in crafting items like the bullets needed in the battles. I wish there were more save spots in EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic. Some of the puzzles are annoying and deep within dungeons.

Overall EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic is a short role playing game. It compensates for this with slow pacing. Expect to grind in battles to progress past the bosses. I also got stuck a few times not understanding what to do, or where to go next. There is at least one character who rebels against authority figures in EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic. I ran into a couple of game crashes while playing EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic.

EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic is better than many modern day role playing games. There is a lower frequency of content that will concern families. EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic also has some charm to the story, characters, and fantasy world. The graphics are okay. The music is fun to listen to. Battling in EARTHLOCK Festival of Magic is very unique. I liked resting to get another yellow square, and pretending to be dead to escape battle.
