Guardians of Oz

Thank you Lionsgate for sending us a copy of Guardians of Oz on DVD. This movie takes place in the land of Oz after Dorothy left. The Lion, Scarecrow, and Tin Woodman are the three kings of the land of Oz. The Wicked Witch Eviline is brought back to life, and her powers are put in her broom. The three kings guard the broom. The wicked witch sends her flying monkeys to get the broom back. So she can take over.

Guardians of Oz is told from the viewpoint of a small and young flying monkey. He is not sure why they have to serve the wicked witch. He winds up bringing the three kings back together after the wicked witch curses each of them. Guardians of Oz is a twist on the original Wizard of Oz movie. I found it to be an enjoyable 88 minutes. There is also some bonus content on this DVD.

The content families will want to be aware of is magic, witches, potions, lack of attire, cleavage, and some mild violence. Guardians of Oz does teach us all to stop evil. Guardians of Oz teaches us to stand up against those trying to take power for themselves. Guardians of Oz also taught me to overcome fear, bullies are bad, and to disobey bad leaders.

The art style in Guardians of Oz is different. It is not at the level of say Disney. I noticed multiple funny moments in Guardians of Oz. I liked the new characters that were added to the franchise. If you need some heart, courage, or brains then Guardians of Oz is a movie your family may be interested in. I found Guardians of Oz has some nice charm to it. I also liked the Behind the scenes, and Minuscule Bonus episodes.

SPOILER ALERT! I loved seeing the flying monkeys get free of the wicked witch at the end of Guardians of Oz. I also found it interesting how the lion was made so brave that he was enraged and fought all the time. The Tin Woodman wanted to feel, so he was made to feel all of the pain in the world. Finally the Scarecrow was made to constantly think and solve problems.
