IRONCAST

I want to extend my thankfulness to Ripstone for sending Family Friendly Gaming a digital download code for IRONCAST on the Nintendo Switch. Finally we have something to use the Switch for again. I did some mild research and could not find a physical copy version of this steampunk puzzle game with role playing elements. That is a shame. IRONCAST can also be found on Steam, PS4, and Xbox One.

IRONCAST has really nice music. Which is dragged down by bad language. There is violence as we see mech like vehicles shooting one another. IRONCAST can be a very unforgiving game as well. There is permanent deaths in IRONCAST. The plus side is we earn medals that can be used to purchase better commanders (for example) at the start of our next game.

The game play style in IRONCAST mixes the puzzle elements with the turn based role playing. We have a puzzle screen with tiles. They can be energy, missiles, repair, etc. We get two turns to select what we want to power up. Then we can attack, repair, and defend. There is also gold as one of the tiles in this Victorian science fiction era based video game. We get to attack, repair and defend based on how many resources we compiled.

Each mission has only so many turns in IRONCAST. That means we have to defeat the enemy mech in that many turns. There are plenty of different upgrades that we can utilize in IRONCAST. Just remember to repair your mech first or the next battle will not go very well for you. IRONCAST has a bit of resource management to it as well. I just realized that. We have to strategically pick what we need to defeat each enemy mech.

We watch mechs launch their attacks and see the damage done. Expect to see fire bellowing from your vehicle after taking enough damage. The hand drawn graphics look nice. I love being able to use the touch screen and/or regular button controls. It will take multiple play throughs to finish IRONCAST. IRONCAST taught me to go slow, and never bite off more than I can chew.
