Our family first heard about Jason Bourne in the Duck Dynasty
television show. Phil Robertson really likes Jason Bourne. In fact he
calls him: "the ultimate redneck." That got our family interested in
watching the Bourne movies. So when the recent release of Jason Bourne
on DVD came down to our magical purchase price (ten dollars or less), I
decided to make a purchase. We watched Jason Bourne on one of our movie
nights.
It is great to see Jason Bourne make a return. He has done so in a
manner that makes sense too. There is all kinds of new cyber security,
hacking, and other issues. Jason Bourne learns about his past even more.
SPOILER ALERT! The US government killed off his father to get him into
the program. There is also a younger generation at the CIA that wants to
kill off the old guard. I mean that literally.
Jason Bourne is rated thirteen and older only for a reason. There is
violence, lack of attire, bad language, blood, death, and more. The
explosions and the chase scenes are very intense in Jason Bourne. I was
sad to see certain really cool characters die in Jason Bourne. I do
believe this movies ties off many of the strings quite well. There is an
open string left but I am not sure how he could trust the CIA again.
Jason Bourne hints at the CIA working with tech giants to gain access to
private and personal information on people. That way they can find the
threats before they ever emerge. The concept is very creepy in my
opinion. Not the first time Holly Weird has floated that idea. I am sure
Holly Weird would use that kind of technology if they thought it could
give them more sales, or stop movie piracy.
I noticed some interesting assumptions in Jason Bourne. There is an
assumption at the beginning that Jason Bourne is behind the hacking.
There is an assumption that Jason Bourne is a traitor to his country.
Never mind his thirty-two kills to make the world a safer place. When
does he get to retire? I would think he has done enough to retire. With
that said I hope this franchise continues for a few more movies. Matt
Damon may be getting older, but they could do a Metal Gear kind of a
thing with the older Solid Snake.
Jason Bourne is a fun action film with all kinds of on the edge of your
seat moments. I did not know who might get shot and when. I did not know
who Jason Bourne could trust at what moments. Different characters have
different agendas in Jason Bourne. Sometimes they match up with other
characters. Other times they do not. Jason Bourne also has an element of
getting revenge to it.
