Madden NFL 96
SCORE: 80
We had a lot of fun playing Madden NFL 96 here at Family Friendly
Gaming. We even did a video capture of this game. This is one of the
most difficult Madden NFL video games I have ever played. The options in
Madden NFL 96 are Play Now, NFL Season Play, Front Office, and Records.
We played Madden NFL 96 on the Super NES. It is on other systems with
the Genesis being the closest to this version.
Madden NFL 96 looks good for its era. It is funny to see some of the
scrolling, and scaling in this game. The players do not have a lot of
detail to them. It can be hard to tell if you can break a tackle or fall
down with the player with the ball. I question some of the lack of
penalties in Madden NFL 96. I noticed a couple of times when there was
clear pass interference and the game did nothing.
Timing is very important in Madden NFL 96. If you want to have a
successful pass you will need to time it out perfectly. Most of the time
I had to throw before the receiver got there and I was not able to see
if a safety was coming over or not. This led to interceptions at times
in Madden NFL 96. A lot of balls get batted away at the line of
scrimmage too. Expect to lose a lot in Madden NFL 96.
There are plenty of interesting sound bytes in Madden NFL 96. I liked
hearing all of the collision noises in this retro sports video game. The
pre-game presentation must be read. So a basic reading ability is needed
to understand where the teams strengths and weaknesses are. Expect to
punt a lot in Madden NFL 96. I started to get good at punting in Madden
NFL 96.
I purchased Madden NFL 96 for $2.95 on the Super NES from a local used
game store. I feel like I got my moneys worth out of Madden NFL 96. The
video will most likely come out a few days to a week after the review.
Keep an eye out for Tampa Bay versus Jacksonville. Both of us got a lot
better with Madden NFL 96 by the end of that game. Madden NFL 96 is
still really stiff.
