Marinatide

I am thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital downloadable code for Marinatide on Steam. This PC fishing video game has easy to learn controls. We click where we want to go, and the things we want to interact with. There are a limited amount of characters in Marinatide that interact with us. They help us with directions, buying/selling, staying at the inn and more.

The music is nice in Marinatide. I noticed some lag, and long loading times in Marinatide. The graphics are okay in Marinatide. I like the art style of the characters in Marinatide. It looks like some of the games on the Wii U. I would not be surprised to see Marinatide port over to the home consoles at some future date. Maybe a sandbox mode could be added in a port.

The bad news in Marinatide is there are some tough goals to meet in this game. Players must earn so much money in so many days. You also are not allowed to catch certain things. I was fined for catching something a couple of times. I never noticed it on the screen. Maybe it was perfectly hidden behind something else. It can also be random in what you catch - which means your daily money can be random.

Players must return at night to the hotel. If you don't then you could lose a day. Which is very valuable in Marinatide. There are only so many days to do things in this game. I wish that constraint had been lifted in say a casual, easy, or family friendly mode. I failed the tutorial because of this. Yes players can fail the tutorial and have to read through all the text again.

Marinatide has some neat charm to it. I wish there had been a casual, easy, or family friendly mode in term of the goals. Maybe that will be cleaned up in the future. Marinatide taught me fishing is really hard. Marinatide taught me there are no second chances. Marinatide taught me that we make one mistake and it is game over. Literally since this is a video game.
