Mickey Mouse Merry & Scary
SCORE: 70
I am thankful Disney sent Family Friendly Gaming a reviewable copy of
Mickey Mouse Merry & Scary on DVD. The boys did an Unboxing of this
product which can be seen by clicking
here. This DVD takes forty-three minutes to
watch. There is an animated cartoon based on Halloween, and one based on
Christmas. Yes this show does reference Christmas.
Duck the Halls A Mickey Mouse Christmas Special, and The Scariest Story
Ever A Mickey Mouse Halloween Spooktacular are the two main features in
Mickey Mouse Merry & Scary. There are also five bonus episodes. The
bonus episodes are Ghoul Friend, The Boiler Room, Black and White,
Entombed, and Split Decision. The animation in Mickey Mouse Merry &
Scary reminds me of Ren and Stimpy. A lot of Mickey Mouse Merry & Scary
makes it feel really old.
There is some humor to be found in Mickey Mouse Merry & Scary.
Especially in the bonus episodes. My favorite is Split Decision. Donald
Duck's anger gets removed and becomes a Hulk like creature. The regular
Donald wants to hug everyone. Most of the bonus episodes on Mickey Mouse
Merry & Scary have a real horror theme to them. Mickey Mouse Merry &
Scary is definitely tipped toward the Halloween side.
The Christmas episode in Mickey Mouse Merry & Scary has Donald in a
manger at one point. That is as close to the true meaning of Christmas
(the birth of Jesus Christ) that this animated feature comes to. Santa
Claus makes an appearance in Mickey Mouse Merry & Scary. Poor Donald
wants to stay in the snow to experience Christmas there. His body needs
to fly south for the winter though. I am not sure why he could not stay
where it was warm (like inside).
The issues families can have with Mickey Mouse Merry & Scary is ghosts,
ghouls, witches, gore, violence, blood, magic, and more. There are some
strange songs in Mickey Mouse Merry & Scary. I love the lesson of having
Christmas wherever you are. I had one in a war zone in Saudi Arabia one
year. That is when I served in the US Air Force, and part of the reason
I am a disabled war veteran.
The Halloween episode confused me. Why do you want to tell a scary
story? I have honestly never understood Halloween. To me it is an excuse
to act evil. Plus the whole trick or treat is way too close to terrorism
for me. That is my personal opinion. You are welcome to disagree. I know
dentists are really happy at all of the cavities that come from
Halloween.
