Monopoly
SCORE: 77
Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Monopoly
on the Nintendo Switch. I am thankful Ubisoft sent us a code for this
digital version of a board game. Families can have their own joycon
controller or share one controller to play Monopoly. Bidding on auctions
can be a bit challenging if you share the controller. It is easy for
someone to spam a button and bid for someone else.
Monopoly on the Switch is a three gig download. There is a physical copy
version of this game on the Nintendo Switch. Monopoly comes in multiple
languages, looks decent, and has some good music. Some of the rules of
Monopoly can be changed if you feel like it. There are also goals
available in Monopoly. What are goals? Things like not land on a
property in a turn or land on GO!
There are some fun new tokens in Monopoly on the Nintendo Switch. If you
land on a property then you can buy it or auction it off. In an auction
all of the players bid until someone winds up buying it. I wish we could
just leave a property for no one to buy. The rules in Monopoly can be
implemented to improve the speed of a game. There are also end game
goals that can be created like the first player to get a hotel.
The modes in Monopoly are Play Monopoly, Objectives, Online Mode, and
Help & Options. There are Living Boards and Classic Boards in Monopoly.
The Living Boards (3D boards) are City Theme, Amusement Park Them, and
Haunted Board Theme. The Classic Boards are Classic and Rabbids. I was
honestly expecting more from Monopoly. I am not thrilled about the
Haunted Board Theme. I know this game is being released on the Satanic
Halloween holiday. I would have preferred something upbeat like a
Christmas Board theme.
There are tokens in Monopoly that can be unlocked. The current cost of
Monopoly is $39.99. I feel that is a bit high for the content included
in Monopoly for the Nintendo Switch. If families are patient the price
of Monopoly on the Nintendo Switch will come down. I enjoyed my time
with Monopoly. This is a fun game with some neat rule adjustments
families can enjoy. Of course playing with the board game can allow
families to implement whatever rules they want.
