NHL Breakaway 98
SCORE: 76
The hockey game Peter and I played will be coming out in the next few
weeks. Once you can enjoy those videos you can see what I am talking
about in this review. The large character models in NHL Breakaway 98
impressed us. Those goalies are really good at blocking the puck which
annoyed me more than anything. I will not spoil some of the drama in the
video we did.
The audio department in NHL Breakaway 98 is okay. The crowd sounds, and
whistles sound great. Otherwise NHL Breakaway 98 is a bit on the quiet
side. A basic reading ability is needed to understand what penalties are
called. We do not understand all of the penalties because we do not know
what they mean. Icing we know since we have done it in so many hockey
games.
The controls in NHL Breakaway 98 are a bit odd. The characters will pass
to the opposing team quite often. Players can bring up an on screen menu
to show which player to try and pass to. Checking and shooting can be a
bit tricky in NHL Breakaway 98. Which is a shame. All in all I actually
enjoyed my time with NHL Breakaway 98. Teen Gamer did not despise this
retro game like so many others.
I like the big character models. NHL Breakaway 98 puts modern NHL games
to shame in terms of large characters. The fans do not look great in NHL
Breakaway 98. When the puck is flying through the air it looks weird.
There is violence in NHL Breakaway 98 in the form of fighting. That is
something that happened in our video. So look out for it. NHL Breakaway
98 is a decently priced game that we paid $2.95 for.
