Race Arcade

Micro Machines racing video games have done donuts around Family Friendly Gaming for over a decade. That is why I am so excited Family Friendly Gaming is reviewing Race Arcade on the Xbox One. Iceflake Studios provided us a digital download code for this race video game. There are six different vehicles and one hundred tracks in this itty bitty racer. I mean itty bitty in how large the vehicles are.

The first thing in Race Arcade that greeted me as a DOS like boot up sequence. It was called IC-DOS. Neat little way to start your game. Then I could pick single player, local multiplayer or options. I did not find a difficulty slider in the options sadly. Which Race Arcade needs - badly. Like red elf needing food in Gauntlet. Race Arcade is hard. Race Arcade is tough. Race Arcade is difficult.

There are three course sections in the Career mode of Race Arcade. We can enjoy the Career, Single Race, or Time Trial. When you win a race in the Career of Race Arcade, you will start in last place for the next race. This can make Race Arcade even more difficult because those cars bunch up, and love to knock us off our line. Passing can be difficult with so many cars racing.

I found I got stuck in a lot of places and on a lot of things in Race Arcade. Whatever you do, do not cut off parts of the track. The lap will not count, and Race Arcade does not even tell you. Everyone finishes and you have to do another lap. Thankfully it is very easy to restart a race in Race Arcade. In fact I restarted more in Race Arcade than I actually completed races.

Why did I restart so often in Race Arcade? One mistake in Race Arcade will put you last place. Maybe it just put me in last place all of the time. There are generally not enough laps to catch up either. Which is why I used the restart button so often. Race Arcade has small graphics, with okay music. I did improve after practicing tracks multiple times. I wish Race Arcade had some easy mode for casual gamers, and families.
