SING

SING reached our price purchasing point recently at a local retailer. We were willing to part with ten dollars to own this DVD. I expected there to be all kinds of music. I also noticed so many places intelligent business opportunities could have been made in this animated movie (entrance fee for the singing contest for example). Buster Moon is an optimistic koala who owns an aging theater. He decides to have a singing contest.

The first thing you need to know about Buster Moon is he is not honest. He is not ethical either. When an accident changes the award from one thousand dollars to one hundred thousand dollars he does not correct the misconception. He works with it, and hopes he can find the money. He constantly stiffs the bank, and his workers. He steals water, and power from his neighbors. The biggest lesson in SING is the show must go on. Do whatever you want as long as it makes you happy.

I recognized a variety of songs in SING. Many of them have just a snippet here and there. Which is fine because there are few of them I want to hear from start to finish anyways. SING has a lot of humor in it. We laughed and laughed at a variety of parts in this movie that lasts one hour and forty-eight minutes. A great length for an animated film if you know what I mean.

One thing I find sad about SING is how many of these characters are not content with their lives. They want more. They want to be rich. They want to be famous. They want to be somebody that others will envy. I personally find that sad because I have learned how to be content in life. Which to me is a much better way to live. As you might expect the lies are eventually exposed in SING. The entire theater gets destroyed in the process.

There are plenty of bonus features in SING. There are three funny mini movies, Don't Worry about a Thing music video, the best of Gunter, and more. We had fun watching SING on one of our movie nights. There is some mild peril, and crude humor. Those parts are very short though. I found SING to be a generally family friendly title with a few strange teachings in it.
