Smashbox Arena

I am so thankful Family Friendly Gaming was given a digital download code for Smashbox Arena on the Playstation 4 VR. This is a three on three dodge ball like video game. Smashbox Arena has an online game play mode, and the story game play mode. Families will need to pay for the Playstation Plus membership to play Smashbox Arena online. Since Family Friendly Gaming does not pay for that service I was unable to play Smashbox Arena online.

Families will need two Playstation Move controllers to play. These are how players will move around, and grab balls to throw. There are also power ups that can be used in Smashbox Arena. Power ups can be things like giant rocks, heat seeker missiles, and more. There are also regular balls that can be thrown in Smashbox Arena. When you do not have a ball you have a sight. The sniper ball has a sight on it too.

I wish the teleport was a bit better on the sighting. I also noted that you can not have a ball and teleport with that same arm. So leave one hand open to teleport around. The characters in Smashbox Arena have no arms or legs. You can catch balls that are thrown at you. Power up items can not be caught. I had trouble shooting the balls at other players without a sight.

You must have a lot of space around you where you play Smashbox Arena. I got myself all twisted up in the PS4 cord because it is hard going around walls. So you go around a wall, and have to turn. Now I have to teleport, and go back. It got a bit confusing trying to find the other characters while playing Smashbox Arena. The indie graphics look decent, but do feel lacking at times.

I like the music in Smashbox Arena. I had fun playing this 1.6 gig downloadable only virtual reality video game. The story mode is not much of a story though. The three on three battles are cool, but my AI was not always helpful. I love the sudden death missile in Smashbox Arena. The controls are different in Smashbox Arena. They take some time to adapt to. Expect to be confused at first, and to miss a lot.
