A big thank you goes out to Konami for sending Family Friendly Gaming
a copy of Super Bomberman R. The cover art on the outside is awesome.
The instructions can be found on the inside. Eight family members can
play Super Bomberman R at the same time. Please note you will need eight
of the Joycon controllers. Since the Nintendo Switch comes with two
Joycon controllers then two family members can play together right out
of the box.
I have not played a Bomberman video game in some time. So it is great to
see him back, and better than ever before. Super Bomberman R looks good,
and it sounds great. We do drop bombs and blow up other characters and
all these creatures. Human characters go flying off when hit, and the
enemies vanish rather quickly. I honestly was expecting Super Bomberman
R to be more violent. I am pleasantly surprised.
The storyline and characters in Super Bomberman R is amazing. I loved
all these characters and their personalities. I also liked being able to
skip the cut scenes if I needed to. There are plenty of laugh out loud
moments in the story for families. The voice acting is in English and
very solid. There are accessories that can be purchased for the
characters if you spend your coins on that. Coins are also used to get
more lives when you lose all of them.
Super Bomberman R has an online mode, and of course the normal offline
mode. I heard there were some early issues with the online modes. Since
we never play them here at Family Friendly Gaming we are not very
concerned. It is always better playing locally with family and friends,
than playing online with strangers who can be mean, nasty, hate filled,
and bad mouthed.
There are a variety of different kinds of things we do in Super
Bomberman R. We defeat all of the enemies, hit all of the switches, find
all of the keys, escort someone else, survive for so long and more. I am
surprised how much content was put into this little cartridge. I know
some have complained about the price. If you can find Super Bomberman R
for forty dollars or less you are getting a good deal.
I love how we can pick the controller configuration with Super Bomberman
R. I also appreciate a comprehensive single player story mode being
included. That reminds me a second family member can play in the story
mode. Which is really cool. Super Bomberman R is a shining star in the
launch line up of the Nintendo Switch. Best party game on the Switch
thus far.
