The Aetherlight

I want to extend my thanks and appreciation to Scarlet City for providing Family Friendly Gaming episodes in The Aetherlight. This downloadable app and PC video game is a MMORPG. It is set in a robotic world that might fit the definition of steam punk. There are gears, bolts, springs, and all kinds of robots in The Aetherlight. Players must join the resistance to put the true king back on the throne.

There is an evil emperor in charge in The Aetherlight. He has robotic patrols the player must deal with. How do we deal with them? In turn based battles. How good your attack is depends on your ability to stop a spinning wheel in the right sector. Think of Wheel of Fortune. There are also items that can be found and used in a limited fashion in battles. Once the battle is done then we get another spinner to determine our rewards.

There are Biblical lessons in The Aetherlight. This game does it in a way that will not feel like it is being forced upon the player. Families can start to play The Aetherlight for free. To play the chapters, families will have to pay for it. The Aetherlight does a great job keeping kids safe. In fact you can turn off the talking from other players. That is something many parents will appreciate.

The music in The Aetherlight is fantastic. I loved listening to it. Certain voices can be heard in certain areas. There is some crude humor if you interact with objects like the outhouse. There is also turn based cartoon violence in The Aetherlight. The robots will fall apart when they are destroyed. The Aetherlight includes guns that are used to attack the robots.

Players can perform multiple quests at the same time while playing The Aetherlight. I did run into some problems with certain quests in The Aetherlight. They told me to find the items that were in a crate for example. Problem is I did not know what to look for. I like being able to jump into battles and help other players. I also liked seeing others come in the battle and help me.

The Aetherlight is around a gig in terms of download size. Make sure your device has enough room on it. I enjoyed playing The Aetherlight. It is an interesting world that teaches wonderful lessons. It would be wonderful to see this franchise released on the home consoles. Maybe even in a physical copy format at some point. SOEDESCO might be a good publisher for The Aetherlight.
