The Good Catholic

I am very thankful Family Friendly Gaming was sent a reviewable copy of The Good Catholic on Blu-ray + DVD. I did an Unboxing video of it which can be found right here {https://youtu.be/u5e0kpSnGeo}. Daniel (played by Zachery Spicer) is a young idealistic priest who lives with two other priests. One is by the book Father Victor (played by Daniel Glover), and the other is Franciscan Father Ollie (played by John C. McGinley) who smokes, watches sports, and is definitely more worldly.

Daniel meets Jane (played by Wrenn Schmidt) at a late night confession. She is obsessed with death and believes she is dying. I will not spoil that little tidbit for you. Daniel starts to ask questions like: 'why is he doing this?' Another question he asks is 'what is my passion?' If you read the press release on The Good Catholic then you know where this movie will go. In fact the ending was not much of a surprise. There were questions I still had at the end of the movie like 'did he leave the church entirely?'

The issues families can have with The Good Catholic is bad language, brief lack of attire, and more. I also noticed becoming unequally yoked was never once referenced. There are numerous references to God, and the Holy Bible in The Good Catholic. There is some awesome singing in this movie too. I loved when they were doing their Amazing Grace rendition. I have heard those kinds of renditions in church before. The priests definitely have issues with one another in The Good Catholic.

Daniel admits at one point that he does not see God. This confused me because he should be seeking God, not trying to see God. We can feel God's presence in a great many things. We can see God's hand at work all over the place. I am confused as to how he did not see that with all of his priestly duties. The Good Catholic also gave me sympathy for priests. It also reinforces the opinion that priests should be allowed to marry. Jesus was clear that marriage is a good thing.

There are some funny parts if you understand the priests and their roles in this movie. The facial acting is fantastic in The Good Catholic. I laughed hysterically during certain parts of The Good Catholic. The death of Daniel's father is referenced in The Good Catholic. Death has a large part of The Good Catholic. I wish the language was better in The Good Catholic. That is what really hurts this movie. I can see a non-believer coming in and swearing. I do not get the priests swearing.
