The Last Witch Hunter
SCORE: 42
We had seen the trailers for The Last Witch Hunter, and decided to
purchase it on Black Friday 2016 for viewing and a review. The trailers
are very misleading. The Last Witch Hunter is nothing like I expected it
to be. Vin Diesel plays Kaulder who is essentially a weapon the church
uses to kill off witches. At the start of the movie Kaulder and his team
defeat the witch queen.
Right before the witch queen dies she curses Kaulder by making him
immortal. Okay this is where I start to have problems with The Last
Witch Hunter. Why would your last dying act be to make your worst enemy
(the one who is killing you) immortal. It is like giving money to people
trying to steal from you. It makes no logical sense. I guess it is a
convenient plot point.
The issues families will have with The Last Witch Hunter is violence,
blood, magic, witchcraft, witches, warlocks, bad language, enticement to
lust, and more. The Last Witch Hunter is part of the war on
Christianity. The church is made to look horrible. Witches are made to
look good. Incarceration for life is also show as bad in The Last Witch
Hunter. All of these trapped witches are integral to the plot later in
the movie.
There are some bonus features that dig into the religious nature and
religious beliefs in The Last Witch Hunter. Suffice to say they are not
exactly following the teachings of the Holy Bible. In fact they could be
considered attacking God, His people, and the Holy Bible. The peace
between the witches and the last witch hunter makes little sense to me.
I also am confused as to how the one witch learned of the history of the
witch queens heart.
I like Vin Diesel's acting in The Last Witch Hunter. There are some
other well known actors in The Last Witch Hunter. I had high hopes for
The Last Witch Hunter. Sadly this movie let me down. I thought Kaulder
would spend time hunting and disposing of evil, vile, and wicked
witches. Instead he works with them, and hunts only a couple in The Last
Witch Hunter. Pass on this movie.
