The Lego Batman Movie
SCORE: 62
I am so thankful Family Friendly Gaming purchased a copy of The Lego
Batman Movie on Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD. It came down to ten dollars
and that was the buying price point for us. Kid Gamer really wanted to
see this movie, so we jumped on the sale price. There is some good and
some bad in this Lego animated movie. I will get into that in just a
little bit. Please be patient.
The Lego Batman Movie has the strangest Batman I have ever seen. This
movie pays homage to the previous versions of Batman. The Batman in The
Lego Batman Movie is selfish, self-centered, and lonely. He does not
realize at first how lonely he really is. He is all in love with Barbara
Gordon who replaces her dad as the Commissioner. She wants Batman to
work with her.
The issues families can have with The Lego Batman Movies is violence,
explosions, and uncomfortable conversations on relationships. There was
a comment about Batman and Bruce Wayne being the dad to Dick Grayson.
Dick calls them his two dads. That made everyone here at Family Friendly
Gaming very squeamish and uncomfortable. It was like gross. A mother and
a father is the best environment to raise a child.
There are plenty of funny moments in The Lego Batman Movie. Right from
the beginning as the company logos come up. Batman steals the Phantom
Zone Projector from Superman, and uses Robin to do it. Batman tries to
protect others by pushing them away. The ultimate lesson in The Lego
Batman Movie is to accept others into your family, and to not go it
alone.
Batman tells the Joker he hates him in The Lego Batman Movie. Which is
supposed to be some feel good, come home moment. It felt off for me
personally. I am not big on most of the voice actors in The Lego Batman
Movie either. Especially the Joker. Batman has trouble taking off his
mask early on in The Lego Batman Movie. It also felt a little off. I
loved seeing all of the different Bat- costumes in The Lego Batman
Movie. The adult playing dress up was another awkward moment.
The Lego Batman Movie has plenty of bonus features in it. There are four
new original animated shorts, four deleted scenes, and six featurettes.
They are all pretty short though. The movie itself takes 104 minutes to
watch. There are some great special effects, and visual effects in The
Lego Batman Movie. I wish more of the characters were fleshed out better
in The Lego Batman Movie.
